<p>Glenn Pasch, COO, Christine Rochelle, VP Operations, and six additional employees handed out gifts that were collected at the firm’s corporate headquarters in Eatontown. A collection of games, toy sand stuffed animals were brought to children spending their holiday at The Children’s Hospital.</p>
<p>PCG employees were able to give gifts to all of the children on the pediatric floor and also donated additional gifts that will be used throughout the year on birthdays and other holidays.</p>
<p>Christine Rochelle, VP Operations is quoted, “We are all very thankful to The Children’s Hospital and Kristin Kuhi in particular for arranging our time with the children. It was a very moving experience and we just hope we were able to bring some joy to the children spending the holiday away from home.”</p>
<p>PCG Digital Marketing looks forward to their continued relationship with The Children’s Hospital.</p>

<p>PCG recently expanded their corporate office home team with about a dozen new employees, prompting the need for larger office space.  Upon settling in to their new home in Eatontown, the staff was asked about which local organizations they would like to make donations to.  The Monmouth County SPCA was at the top of the list.</p>
<p>Christine Rochelle is quoted, “A lot of our employees have pets of their own and were excited about the fact that they could help the MCSPCA animals despite the fact that they weren’t able to adopt any. They&#8217;re right across the street from us, so with this as our new location we plan to start a great relationship with them since everyone in the office really pitched in and helped us collect donations.”</p>

<p>The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in 1945 to care for the community’s homeless, neglected and abused animals. We are a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization led by a volunteer board of trustees. We are an independent organization not affiliated with, and receiving no funding from, the ASPCA, HSUS or Associated Humane Societies. The MCSPCA is not a government agency and receives little or no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by modest fees and donations.</p>

<p>The first part of his presentation is entitled, “Understanding the Zero Moment of Trust: How Potential Customers are Shopping for Your Product or Service Today.” The <a title="zero moment of truth" href="http://www.automotivezeromomentoftruth.com/" target="_blank">Zero Moment of Truth</a> (ZMOT) is how Google refers to the point in time where consumers explore and examine products and providers online— leveraging search and social media channels — to identify what’s most interesting to them before they ever go to the store. The theory is a follow-up to Proctor &amp; Gamble’s popular First Moment of Truth (FMOT), when a consumer looks at a shelf of products in the store and decides which brand to buy, and the Second Moment of Truth (SMOT), when that consumer actually uses the brand at home and decides if they like it or not.</p>

<p>I can’t recall feeling this way at the end of an automotive conference; this event was special.</p>
<p>One of those reasons was that 15 members of the PCG <a title="Automotive SEO Study" href="http://www.automotiveseostudy.com" target="_blank">Automotive SEO Study</a> attended. It was great to meet SEO Study members who I have just known through our webinars and emails.</p>
<p>The event attracted great leaders and speakers of the automotive industry as well as heavyweights from social media and digital marketing.  Chip Perry, John Holt, Dale Pollak, Dan Zarrella,  Grant Cardone, Ralph Paglia,  JD Rucker,  Allan Cooper, Jeremiah Owyang, and Scott Monty just to name a few. The general sessions were powerful, engaging, and provided a Q&amp;A opportunity for attendees to interact with the presenters.</p>
<p><strong>Live Streaming Keynote Speeches</strong></p>
<p>I was blessed with the opportunity to present one of the keynote addresses as well as conduct a workshop on <a title="Automotive SEO" href="http://www.automotiveseo.co" target="_blank">Automotive SEO</a>.   I would love to get some feedback on my speech from anyone who attended so that I can continue to improve my speaking skills as well as tailoring the subject matter to reach my audience.</p>
<p>My presentation was live streamed on the Internet so hundreds of additional people were able to see the keynote speakers.  That was groundbreaking and future DrivingSales events will continue to stream broadcast to reach more automotive professionals that seek to grow.  A number of clients emailed me that they were watching and cheering me on; that was very encouraging.</p>
<p>After my keynote, it was encouraging meeting so many dealers who are now engaging and implementing SEO as part of their marketing strategies.  A few years ago this would not have been the case so the awareness is growing as well as adoption.</p>
<p><strong>DrivingSales Innovation Cup</strong></p>
<p>One of the most unique elements of the Summit was the DrivingSales Innovation Cup awards, which had two categories; dealers and vendors.  In the dealer category, five dealer finalists had 5 minutes to present their innovation in front of their entire conference.  The same held for vendors who also had 5 minutes to make the case why their innovation was the best of their peers.</p>
<p>When the judging was completed, Marc McGurren from the Jerry Durant Group in Weatherford Texas won the dealer innovation prize for his after hours website marketing strategy.  For the vendor Innovation Cup, eCarList won top honors for their mobile application.  The competitive spirit and passion that each finalist demonstrated was inspiring.</p>
<p>I’m a big fan of creating a positive competitive spirit in our industry and this was a great element of the <a title="DrivingSales Executive Summit" href="http://drivingsalesexecutivesummit.com/" target="_blank">DrivingSales Executive Summit</a>.</p>
<p><strong>The Atmosphere Was Electric</strong></p>
<p>There was something else about the Summit that is hard to describe but it was felt by all that I asked.  There was a sense of intimacy and engagement that I have not experienced at other conferences.</p>
<p>Some of that was due to the size of the conference but there was more that established a feeling that this event was valuable.  It will be important to ensure that this spirit is preserved as the show grows in attendance.  Next year there are already plans in place to create more small group engagement.</p>
<p>Another element of the conference that impacted me was the quality of the accommodations at the Encore.  The Winn/Encore properties are just amazing and the Winn Buffet was off the charts.   The hotel air was clean and not smoky and the service attitude for the hotel employees really enhanced the Summit.  Jared picked a first class hotel to hold this first class Summit.</p>
<p><strong>Looking Forward to 2011</strong></p>
<p>I predict that the <strong>2011 DrivingSales Executive Summit </strong>will double in size next year and that may be conservative.   The number of top quality speakers, market experts, and trainers that have committed to support this conference each year is staggering.</p>

<p>The data from the survey will be used in conjunction with scoring from PCG’s website review panel to determine the best designed automotive website that serves consumers shopping online for a car.</p>

<p>Car dealers are often confused at the myriad of digital marketing tools and solutions that are offered to them. Every time I open a trade publication I see a new vendor offering <a title="Car Dealer SEO" href="http://www.dealer-seo.com" target="_blank">Automotive SEO</a>, Chat, Video Optimization, Social Media and SEM software that claim to make their digital marketing efforts more effective.</p>
<p>As <a title="PCG Digital Marketing" href="http://www.pcgdigitalmarketing.com" target="_blank">PCG Digital Marketing</a> has expanded its own offerings to car dealers, none are more apparent than Fixed Operations digital marketing and optimization.</p>
<p>In this case, car dealers don&#8217;t have to go far to see that most car dealers are invisible on Google Page One for searches for tires, brakes, <a title="Oil Change California" href="http://www.oilchange-ca.com" target="_blank">oil changes</a> and parts in their own PMA.</p>
<p>Fixed Operations SEO is not widely discussed within online communities or at trade conferences and yet it is a true bread winner for car dealers. I have been working with a number of car dealers that have decided to aggressively advertise that they offer competitive prices on the most common car repairs and service. The key is to take that offline decision to the search engines for consumers to see online.</p>
<p>There are a few ways to attack generating more calls and leads for service so I will create a multi-part series on this topic and also schedule a webinar to help dealers with implementing effective Fixed Ops search strategies.</p>
<p>Before we talk about search strategies, it is vitally important that you do local market research on competing dealers and independent service center. Use this data to establish your pricing and marketing message. Ask your digital advertising agency to create online and offline branding graphics and messages that can be used in print, television, banner ads and on your website.</p>
<p>Once you have the graphics and message worked out, add service pages to your main website or dedicated service website that match your offline message. I suggest that you have specific landing pages for <a title="Texas Oil Change" href="http://www.oilchange-tx.com" target="_blank">oil changes</a>, brakes, tires, transmission service, etc. Each of these pages should have a lead capture form and a clear call to action button to schedule a service appointment.</p>
<p>Once your dedicated service landing pages are in place, you can start a Google Adwords campaign which buys keywords that can be directed to the appropriate service landing page. For example, if you bought the words “oil change” or “Oil and Lube”, you should direct those clicks to the oil change landing page that you just created. Do not send consumers to a generic service appointment form with no message about why they should have their next oil change done at your dealership.</p>
<p>In Google Adwords this is called setting up Ad Groups, so I suggest that each Ad Group be directed to the best landing page you created.</p>
<h2>Fixed Ops Videos</h2>
<p>On your service landing pages, I suggest that you consider creating videos that address the common consumer fear that getting a service done at your dealership is more expensive than at an independent service shop. <p>The Boot Camp is a hands-on skills based training program which covers the most important elements of automotive digital marketing strategies: social media, blogging, video, link building, content creation and SEO. </p>
<p> Social Media expert JD Rucker will teach attendees the ‘Ins and Outs’ of social media marketing and how to use the latest technology to attain new levels of targeted consumer interaction.</p>
<p> Paul Rushing and Brian Pasch, SEO specialists and respected Internet Marketing experts, will cover how to create search friendly blogs in WordPress as well as using content driven strategies to deliver stand-out search results.</p>

<h2>Komar Distribution</h2>
<p>What began two years ago as a 350,000-square-foot distribution center in San Bernardino, Calif., for Charles Komar and Sons’ own brands—which include sleepwear and intimates labels—has now grown into Komar Distribution Services, a <a href="http://www.distributionwarehouse.org/back-office-solutions/">back-office</a> and distribution-services provider.</p>
<p>The company, which has operated a <a title="Distribution Warehouse" href="http://www.distributionwarehouse.org/" target="_blank">distribution warehouse</a> out of McAlester, Okla., for approximately 80 years, made the move west to satisfy its own distribution needs and quickly found brands eager to use its facilities and resources.</p>
<p>Ron Weissbrod, Komar’s vice president of business development, said Komar currently has approximately 10 customers being serviced out of the San Bernardino location. Those customers represent 15 percent to 20 percent of Komar’s business out of the West Coast location, and Weissbrod expects that number to more than double in the next several years.</p>
<p>He declined to name Komar’s current clients. But Weissbrod said customers include domestic and international swimwear, sleepwear, intimates, sportswear, dress, and children’s and juniors brands that retail in major and big-box retailers through to specialty stores and independent boutiques. Client testimonials on Komar’s Web site count Liz Claiborne Sleepwear among its satisfied customers.</p>

<p>  Many consumers have already spoken out on the new forum.  One consumer added this comment,</p>
<p> &#8221;I tried to trade in a car that got 19 mpg for one that got 33 mpg. I didn’t qualify. Other people were buying cars and trucks that got 10 mpg less than the one I was going to buy. I was also told by car dealers I know that only upper middle class and wealthy people had the money to buy ‘new cars” as pre-owned cars with great mpg did not qualify. Another giveaway to the rich, as it didn’t help poor people or lower middle class folks who are hoping to have a job at the end of the year.&#8221;</p>
<p> Other satisfied consumers chimed in on the site with rave reviews about the program.  One consumer wrote,</p>
<p> &#8221;My experience was a very positive one and I believe that was for two main reasons. First I understood all the requirements of the program and had all my documentation in order. Secondly the dealership,  in Appleton WI as well as sales consultant were also as thorough in their preparation for handling the paperwork. I was able to get a $4,500 credit for a van that was 19 years old and worth $500. Without the program I’d still be driving the same vehicle and not an Audi Q5.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The NHTSA has called an official end to the <a href="http://www.cashforclunkersfacts.com/">Cash for Clunkers</a> craze that has swept the nation since going into effect the end of July.  Since the NHTSA does not control how many rebates are issued by car dealers during the program the likelihood is that the Cash for Clunkers $3 billion budget won’t be enough to fulfill the record numbers of transactions that will take place in the last four days of the program.</p>
<p>Cash for Clunkers will come to a close on Monday August 24th at 8:00 pm and it will be a four day marathon race for dealers across the country to squeeze in as many clunker deals as possible before the program shuts down. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.brianpaschnj.com/">Brian Pasch</a>, CEO of the PCG Digital Marketing which offers automotive marketing services to the automotive industry has been following and analyzing the bill since before it was approved by congress. Their company also created the popular consumer forum <a href="http://www.cashforclunkersfacts.com/">www.cashforclunkersfacts.com</a> .</p>
<p> Commenting on the final days of the program Pasch voiced his concern “It is clear to me that the number of sales accelerated in the next four days will easily push the total CARS rebates past the $3 billion in funding. The question that comes to mind is:  How are those transactions going to be funded?”   </p>
<p>According to Pasch, the situation will be especially tricky since the NHTSA has no authority to spend past the $3 billion allocated by Congress.  Even further complicating the situation is the fact that the CARS program was implemented without real-time tracking to understand how many rebates have already been promised to American car buyers. </p>
<p>Pasch added, “The large backlog of deals to be submitted still exists and the payments backlog will be further extended by the weekend sales rush. By next week, the NHTSA&#8217;s 1,000 employees will have over 700,000 Cash for Clunkers sales  to process and that workload will not be completed any time soon.”</p>
<p>Congress will not know for weeks just how far past the $3 billion the CARS program is in the red.  In fact, Pasch predicts that it will take three or four weeks for dealers to get all their sales into the NHTSA reimbursement system. </p>
<p>In late September Pasch predicts that a wave of criticism will surface which will be targeted at the NHTSA and their implementation of the CARS program because of the financial havoc it has dealt to consumers and car dealers alike.  </p>
<p>NHTSA Secretary Raymond LaHood has assured dealers that they will get paid, but the question may become, how???</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Bruce Gallipani, Director of the <a href="http://www.rockitforkids.org/">Rockit for Kids</a> music group in Red Bank, NJ has announced the next audition date for aspiring young rockers.  Auditions will be held Sunday, September 6<sup>th</sup> from 10am-6pm at the Count Basie Theatre.  The audition fee is $10 and registration is open to guitarists, drummers, vocalists, bassists, keyboardists, brass and string players. Space is limited.  </p>
<p> The Rockit for Kids program lasts 6 weeks, with students attending a 55-minute band class each week with specialized instructors.  At the end of the 6 week program, the young rockers perform a live concert onstage together in front of a packed audience of adults and children who have come to see and hear the accomplished new band.    The band performs classic rock tunes as well as modern hits. </p>
<p> Also coming up in September, Rockit will be offering skill-building and performance enhancement classes on Thursdays. This training program offers those not yet ready to perform in the end-of-program concert the chance to work in a band and develop the necessary skills and techniques to take their musicianship to the next level. </p>
<p> Rockit For Kids band members have had the luxury of performing live at the Count Basie hundreds of times since the program began in 2004.  This past April, the young musicians were invited to open for the Marshall Tucker Band.  Rockit band members also performed a Benefit concert for the Bolger Middle School in Keansburg, and competed in the Battle of the Bands in Belmar (members of Rockit took first place!).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Monmouth and Ocean County residents looking for the highest quality in dental care need to look no further than their own backyard.  In the latest issue of NJ Monthly Magazine, approximately 40 dentists from Monmouth and Ocean Counties were selected to be named to this year’s annual Top Dentists List.  Only 240 dentists total were named. </p>
<p> Dr Robert Sacks in Oakhurst NJ was named to this year’s list.  He is pleased to see that the talent and quality of dental care that exists in Monmouth County is finally being recognized.  “People naturally think that they need to travel North for a higher level of dental care.  Clearly, based on this survey, the level of care in Monmouth County is just as high as anywhere else in the state or even New York City, for that matter. “</p>
<p> NJ Monthly magazine conducted the study.  According to the magazine, “New Jersey Monthly commissioned an independent survey of the state’s dentists by the Polling Institute at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. A total of 6,389 New Jersey-based dentists were invited to give their recommendations for this year’s list.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.nocashforclunkers.com"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-225" title="over-18" src="http://www.paschconsultinggroup.com/wp-content/uploads/over-18.jpg" alt="over-18" width="148" height="143" /></a>Consumers who have been locked out of the <a title="Car Allowance Rebate System" href="http://www.cashforclunkersfacts.com/bill/car-allowance-rebate-system" target="_blank">Car Allowance Rebate System</a> are urged to join Brian Pasch and hundreds of Americans for a online petition project which will be sent to Congress.  Currently, consumers who own cars that are rated as averaging 19 MPG or more, based on government estimates, are not eligible for a CARS credit regardless of their actual miles per gallon experience. </p>
<p>Consumers are disgruntled over the government’s standardized fuel ratings which are posted at <a href="http://www.fueleconomy.gov/">http://www.fueleconomy.gov</a> .  The fuel ratings do not take into consideration wear and tear to vehicles which prevents them from attaining the MPG numbers the vehicle was originally estimated to achieve. </p>
<p><a title="Brian Pasch" href="http://www.brianpaschnj.com">Brian Pasch</a>, CEO of the PCG Digital Marketing, has created the petition to provide a place meeting place for consumers to unify their voices.  Over 600 consumers have added their name to the petition in the first two weeks that the site was opened.</p>
<p>Most consumers understand that the NHTSA is only responsible for implementing the program and is not responsible for the restrictions of the bill.  What they don&#8217;t know is how to make their voices heard in Congress.  The petition was created to help that process.</p>
<h2>Cash for Clunkers Petition Website</h2>
<p>The website, <a href="http://www.nocashforclunkers.com/">http://www.nocashforclunkers.com/</a> , is taking comments from consumers who want their voices heard.  By joining the online petition, consumers will add their names to the petition list that will be sent to the original sponsors of the Cash for Clunkers legislation.  The goal is to make sure Congress hears their voices and those of frustrated consumers around the country if additional funding is requested. </p>
<p>The most common complaint from consumers is that the Federal website rates their “clunker” at 19, 20 or 21 combined mpg.  Consumers are adamant that their vehicle’s condition prevents it from getting anywhere near that mpg number.  For example, one reader wrote in to the site, “I have a 2001 Infiniti I-30 with 220,000 miles. The EPA MPG says I am getting 20 mpg. That is a joke. I have 220,000 miles on my car. I would be lucky to be operating at 18 mpg.”  These types of complaints are flooding the <a href="http://www.cashforclunkersfacts.com/">www.CashForClunkersFacts.com</a> blog site. </p>
<p>Another consumer wrote, “Regarding the Car Allowance Rebate System. I currently drive a 1995 model car that I have owned for 12 years. According to the website fueleconomy.gov, it has a “new” mpg rating of 20 which means that I do not qualify for the CARS program. The MPG when the car was new was 22. This is disappointing as I do not understand how a change of ONLY 2 mpg is calculated on a 14 year old vehicle!&#8221;</p>
<h3>NET-10 Proposal</h3>
<p>The ‘No Cash for Clunkers’ website suggests an alternative qualification model called:  NET-10.  If a consumer trades in their &#8220;clunker&#8221; for another new vehicle that gets at least 10 mpg  more than their current clunker, they would qualify for the $4,500 credit. </p>
<p>This type of revision will accomplish the fuel conservation and environmental goals of the bill and will also remove the penalty from consumers who have a car that is operating at much less of a fuel efficiency than the government’s standardized estimates suggests. </p>

<h2>Don&#8217;t Wait</h2>
<p>If you wait until negative reviews show up for your business it will be more difficult to control the impact of a critical post. By creating a standard operating procedure for IRM you will ensure that positive reviews are being added on your business profiles each month.  When a negative post then hits, it will be in the minority of reviews and the single post&#8217;s power will be diminished. </p>
<p>The biggest stumbling block for most businesses that can&#8217;t seem to implement a consistent Internet Reputation Management (IRM) system is time.  The time required to call, email and follow-up some customers is much longer than others.  That&#8217;s why setting up a system that can keep the process moving is so vital. Hard to reach customers have to be skipped over since you only need a small percentage of your customers to participate to effect change.</p>
<h2>Creating an Internet Reputation Management System</h2>
<p>We are now helping businesses setup a manageable IRM process that can be kept in house or outsourced.  The key is to prepare, in advance, a list of all the review sites you want to target and to create a script that someone can use to answer customer questions while on the phone. </p>
<p>You must have a good FAQ sheet prepared so that when you call a customer and ask them to post a review, the caller is not taken off guard with their questions.  The FAQ sheet should include responses to:</p>
<ul>
<li>What should I write?</li>
<li>How long should the review be?</li>
<li>Should I give my full name?</li>
<li>What if I had a mixed experience and can&#8217;t give you a five star review?</li>
<li>Will I get compensated for my time?</li>
</ul>
<p>Once a customer agrees on the phone to post a positive review, we recommend that you follow-up the call with an email explaining which sites you would like them to post. The email should include a direct link(s) to your business profile page.  Your email should also walk them through the review process on each site, calling out any special requirements that may be needed.</p>
<p>A well written email will make it easy for your customers and increase the number of posts that are actually made.   Don&#8217;t overwhelm them by asking them to post on too many sites. Listing one, two or three sites is all you need from any one customer.  By giving them a choice of sites to post, we have found it makes them feel more comfortable with the process.</p>
<h3>Get a Commitment</h3>
<p>When speaking with customers ask them to commit to a date that they will post their review.  Make sure you have a system to follow-up on these dates.  By asking them when they will be posting, it makes sending a reminder email very appropriate if they don&#8217;t post.</p>
<p>When implemented, a business owner can change the dynamics of web reviews in just a matter of weeks or months.  This of course depends on how many negative reviews exist for your business.  The key to remember is that Rome was not built overnight.   Take your time and let your IRM deliver steady reviews over the next year.</p>
<h3>Take Your Time</h3>
<p>Don&#8217;t rush too many reviews in any one month since dates are shown on review websites.  Never lie.  Never post reviews under anyone&#8217;s name other than yourself.  Never encourage your customers to lie.</p>
<p>If you create a process based IRM system, potential customers will see the great things you do on these popular reviews sites as well as Google Maps.  Positive reviews will generate more clicks to your website.   </p>

<p>Business owners should have some basic alerts that include their brand name and product names.  If you own any trademarks they should be added to the list.  Add all the names of your top executive team on the list.  Anything that interests you or is a &#8220;hot&#8221; topic in your industry should be tracked.</p>
<p>Once you realize the potential of this free tool, you can make sure you are on the pulse of the marketplace for any topic.</p>
<p><strong>Monitoring Your Competition</strong></p>
<p>Google Alerts can also be used to track the public facing communications of your competition.  Track your competitor&#8217;s press releases and products posts in real-time.  This can give you good intelligence on your industry without having to hire an outside news clipping service.</p>
<p>For example, if you are in the Entitlement Management field and the competition launches a new hardware product call the &#8220;Whisper 500&#8243;.  You can set a Google Alert for the phrase &#8220;Whisper 500&#8243;. Anytime the &#8220;Whisper 500&#8243; product is reviewed or written about you can get an alert.</p>
<p>The strategy is that if the product is flawed or if users discover problems with the product, you might be able to leverage that intelligence in a sales call.  Sometimes real-time competitive intelligence can make all the difference is a very competitive bidding process. If the product is successful, these alerts can compile a list of posts why consumers are so excited about the product.  This data can guide your future product develop strategies.</p>
